gathapraya.

Gathapraya was a cultural event that was awaited by everyone, mainly the students of 3 National High School Bandung that was involved in the process. The date of the event was September 30th 2017 at Lapangan Bali, Bandung, but the committee have worked for months and months before the event. As I'm also a part of the committee, I also experienced the hard work, the pain, all of the things the committee have given in order to make this event more successful than all the previous event.

The name "Gathapraya" itself means hope for the future so this event signifies as our hopes for the ever-growing culture of Indonesia and a sign that all of us youngsters still care for the continuity of the rich and various culture of Indonesia. To make this event successful, the committee worked very hard every single day preparing for the day. We sell food daily at school to increase our budget, sell merchandise, and conducted various sub-event to collect funds and increase the hype and excitement towards the main event.

Every Sunday, we also a hold cavalcade at Car Free Day located at Dago, Bandung. We always gathered there at 6am in the morning to discuss what we would do and it usually finishes at 10am. There, we usually promotes the event by giving away pamphlets to anyone, play music so we can attract people's attention, and many more.

A Few of the Committee at Car Free Day Dago
My part of the job at the committee was production manager, so I only work a few days before the actual events, like moving out things and many more. 2 days before the events take place, it was very hectic, many things were not completed and people were actually panicking because it's only 2 days left until the event. Many people, mainly male even spend the night there to finish placing things around.

Thankfully, the event managed to be held very successfully. Beyond my expectation, many people came to watch the performance. Not many people bought the tickets online so I wasn't expecting much but turns out so many people bought the tickets on the spot, so the venue was quite crowded.
The Stage before the event started
The event started at 12am at noon and opened with the opening from the head of the event and from the governor. After that the performance run smoothly. Before the start of the performance, there was a parade from Sparua to our school. The parade includes people walking with traditional clothing and even there's someone riding on a horse.

The peak of the event, which is according to my opinion, is TISTI's performance, NIDJI's, and HIVI's performance. TISTI is a theater and drama club from my school that was quite famous due to their quality and due to their funny performances but also managed to capture the message and serious things that will blow our mind. NIDJI and HIVI is a local band that was really famous nationwide.

Lastly, when the event finished and all artists have played on the stage, all the committee gathered around the stage to take a photo together and just talking to each other. Many people cried and we even sang the theme song of 3 National High School together. It was really emotional and I was touched to see just how much people actually gave their effort to making this events successful. The events finished roughly around 11pm so after the committee gathered and I went home, it was around 12pm.

I was really grateful to be able to take part in something so wonderful and I will surely remember it for the rest of my life.

Anigatha, Abhipraya, Gathapraya!
